SoFi Earnings: Record $1.2 Billion of Adjusted Net Revenue, Up 40%, and the Year Guided Up to $4.75-4.85 Billion

SoFi's Q2 2026: record adjusted net revenue of $1.2 billion up 40%, adjusted EBITDA up 44% to $358 million, record $14.8 billion of originations, and full-year guidance raised to $4.75-4.85 billion.

Records Everywhere, and the One Line That Mattered Went Unanswered

UPDATE (August 7, 2026): SoFi has reported, and the growth lines were records across the board. Adjusted net revenue rose 40% to a record $1.2 billion, with net income of $157 million and adjusted EBITDA up 44% to a record $358 million. Total loan originations hit a record $14.8 billion. Members grew 35% to 15.8 million and products 42% to 24.4 million. EPS of $0.12 beat the $0.11 consensus, and it was the eleventh consecutive profitable quarter.

The guide went up. Full-year 2026 adjusted net revenue guidance rose to $4.75-4.85 billion, implying 32-35% growth, with adjusted EBITDA projected near $1.6 billion.

The gap: this page said the whole print reduced to one line, credit quality in a young-borrower book, and that is exactly the line we could not verify. Charge-offs, delinquencies and provisioning did not appear in any coverage we could confirm against a second source. Record originations of $14.8 billion tell you the book is growing fast and tell you nothing about what is inside it. Against the 57k jobs report backdrop this page led on, growth without a credit number is half the story, and it is the less important half.

On the reaction, coverage described the stock dropping initially and then recovering. That describes a session rather than a close, so no move is asserted here.

TL;DR

  • SoFi reports Q2 results expected Tuesday, July 28, before the open, sharing the morning slot while the megacaps hog the evenings.
  • SOFI has spent 2026 as a fixture on the retail most-mentioned list, which means the print arrives pre-hyped with a ±9% implied move to match.
  • The macro cuts both ways at once: higher-for-longer rates fatten lending margins (the big banks just proved the regime pays), while the 57k jobs report put SoFi's young-borrower book under the season's harshest spotlight.
  • The whole print reduces to one line: credit quality in a consumer-lending book aimed at exactly the demographic the labor data says is wobbling. The tells and the trade below.

The Two-Sided Macro

SoFi is a rate-spread business wearing a fintech multiple, and this quarter the macro feeds both the bull and bear case simultaneously.

The bullish half is proven: JPMorgan, BofA and the megabanks just printed record results on the exact regime SoFi lends into (sticky rates, fat net interest margins, a consumer still transacting). SoFi's deposit-funded lending model is a miniature of the same machine, and its NII line has compounded through every quarter of the higher-for-longer era.

The bearish half is scheduled: June's jobs report printed 57k with participation collapsing, and leisure-and-hospitality (young, urban, exactly SoFi's borrower base) shed 61,000 jobs in peak season. The megabanks said credit is "bending, not breaking," but their books skew prime and seasoned. SoFi's book is younger in every sense, and younger books crack first. Personal-loan charge-offs and delinquency trend, not revenue, is where this print is won or lost.

What Recent Reactions Say

SOFI trades earnings like the retail favorite it is: heavy options activity into the print, an implied move near ±9%, and a history of double-digit swings on guidance language rather than headline numbers. Retail-heavy names also carry this season's specific disease, whisper inflation: message boards have needed SoFi to beat-and-raise every quarter for two years, and the Broadcom rule applies down-market too: when the crowd's imagined number is unbeatable, good prints sell off. Positioning, not results, sets the candle.

The Tells, In Order

  • Personal-loan charge-offs and delinquencies. The entire quarter in one disclosure. Flat-to-improving buries the labor-market fear and the stock reclaims its momentum profile; deterioration confirms the 57k report found its first victim, and no revenue beat offsets it.
  • Deposit growth. The funding moat and the quiet compounding story. Still growing means the flywheel is intact.
  • Guidance posture into a weakening consumer. A raise says management sees what the megabanks see (bending, not breaking). A trim, however small, gets amplified by the retail-heavy shareholder base into a ±9% day on its own.

The Options Angle

  • Sell the hype, own the tail: iron condor with a widened downside wing. SOFI's pre-earnings IV is retail-inflated (the ±9% straddle prices a blowout in either direction); selling that premium has been the winning trade on retail favorites all season. Widen or skip the put side's short leg though, because the credit-miss scenario is the one that overshoots.
  • If directional, puts are the mispriced side. Everyone in the name is long, the whisper bar is high, and the one genuinely new macro input since last quarter (the labor data) points at SoFi's exact customer. Cheap puts 12-15% down, expiring mid-August, price the scenario the shareholder base refuses to model.
  • The post-print rule for the bulls: buy the credit number, not the reaction. If charge-offs print clean and the stock still dumps on whisper-miss mechanics, that's the entry: two-month calls into the drift, with the season's whole playbook behind you.

Sooo... Retail Darling or First Casualty?

The business is fine and the setup isn't. Rates pay SoFi's model, deposits keep compounding, and the megabank prints already de-risked half the story. But a retail-crowded name with an unbeatable whisper bar, reporting into the first labor-market scare of its life, is a setup where being right about the company still loses money on the week. Trade the credit line, fade the hype, and let the crowd pay you for the privilege of its conviction.
